Lameness Exam

Lameness impacts your horses’ gait or stance, often affecting their walk or trot. This abnormality could be caused by an underlying health condition, like neurological imbalances or pain. Pain in their muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, or joints can create a range of mobility issues which are important to look out for.

What is a lameness exam?

A lameness exam includes a series of procedures our team performs to assess your horse. If you have questions about the process, please contact us at (705) 753-0324. Some of the procedures include:

  • Assessing their gait (pacing) for irregularities
  • Examining their hoofs, including using hoof testers
  • Taking digital X-rays of the affected area
  • Performing flexion test to assess joint pain levels
